Keeping an open mind
Part of the reason I’m not better yet is that I every time I walk into a doctor’s office I think, “You couldn’t possibly know as much about anxiety as I do.”
I fight them–and myself–every step of the way. Sometimes I make the choice not to do things because I’m certain I know better. I’m the one who lives with it every day. You just go home with your serenity and watch television and your brain is not tangled up with worrying about what would happen if you stepped outside and the street had changed and you didn’t know where you were anymore.
On Thursday I have an appointment with a new doctor.
All I’m asking for is an hour of open mindedness.
Mine, not theirs.

June 25, 2013 at 3:43 pmI know exactly what that is like :-) I’ve been fortunate enough to find a pysch that knows that in many respects, I know more then him. He started trying a new type of therapy and within a few weeks I knew more then him, and had made massive progress. He accepted and embraced my way of getting better. Shame I’m going to be getting too old for Headspace services soon, he was awesome.
